Nebulous Portfolio

In the Nebulous paintings, Caitlin Coreris builds chromatic grounds through accumulated layers of color until the surface holds the quality of atmosphere—air, water, and space without fixed location or edge. These grounds are the felt condition into which forms move and are altered. What emerges is neither pure structure nor pure sensation, but a sustained negotiation between the two, form discovering what it becomes when it enters open space, structure finding its edge where feeling begins.

The same fixed wrist that shaped Convergence here follows the body into curves, organic forms moving freely through the atmospheric ground. The straight line still arrives, the pointed edge still appears, not to impose but to create tension where edge meets open space. Organic and geometric, open ground and anchoring mark, sensation and form are in conversation. The surface remains in motion.

Within the paintings, figural elements press through this structure, reframing what surrounds them. The paintings hold freedom and structure in permanent tension. Structure and flow, sound and silence, converge into color.
