Caitlin Coreris is an oil painter based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her paintings operate on the principle that architecture and music are not metaphors but structural forces. Raised inside a hand-built rhombic triacontahedron designed by her architect father and filled with the sound of her cellist mother, she builds paintings through accumulated layers of color, drawing structure from sensation. Trained at the Rhode Island School of Design, her work has been held in the collection of the SFMOMA Artists Gallery. Her influences run from the chromatic expansions of Matisse and Diebenkorn to the biomorphic inventions of Miró.
